Snapshots from Santa Monica

The beachfront town of Santa Monica is one of the most iconic locations in LA and for good reason. Filled with quirky stores and restaurants, I could have spent weeks here rather than just hours. Time was sadly restricted on our flying visit so, in desperate need of sun, we headed to the beach and world-famous pier.
Arriving at the beach, the entire pier was enveloped in fog and we spent a chilly few hours watching surfers tackle the huge waves before the sun broke through. Eventually, with our stomachs rumbling too much to ignore, we strolled towards the pier through the stunning beachfront. Even just from spending a few hours in Santa Monica, it felt like one of those rare places where I could imagine feeling completely at home in.
Sitting on the edge of the pier at sunset was like a dream. An incredible busker by the name of Bunny provided the soundtrack to the afternoon and when we thought it couldn’t get any better, a single dolphin peeked out of the water right in front of us.
Back onto the cool sand of the beach, we couldn’t stop looking at the colours in the sky. My overwhelming memory is of how happy we all were that afternoon.
Santa Monica, you’re my spiritual home.
