Dreamy Breakfast at Hickory’s
There’s just one problem with doing early morning exercise classes at my closest gym. Hickory’s is only a five minute drive away and breakast at Hickory’s is one of my favourites. You may sigh and wonder why I even bother to work out but take one look at those pancakes and tell me that you could resist them.
Considering Pancake Day was only Tuesday, you would imagine that I’d overdosed on them but the very next morning, my friends and I followed a killer 10am Zumba class with yet more pancakes. While I opted to stick with water for much-needed hydration, I regretted that swiftly when the most delicious looking cloudy lemonade arrived for the others.
Food-wise, there were no such regrets as we ignored all other breakfast options in favour of the incredible pancake stacks topped with blueberries and cream. Continuing along the ‘cutest brunch ever’ theme, they also came with a side of maple syrup presented in this adorable little tin bucket. After a lengthy Instagram shoot – made oh so conspicuous by my giant camera – we decided to actually enjoy eating our food rather than just gazing at it. There must have been six or seven pancakes with blueberries between every other slice so I opted for the ‘slice like a cake’ approach rather than the more ladylike ‘one at a time’ method.
As I’m sure you can imagine, my plate didn’t look anywhere near as appetizing once there was mushed blueberry and cream smeared around it. But my stomach felt wonderful which I guess is the important thing. Coming in at £6.95, it’s definitely a treat breakfast but you get your moneys worth in both quality and quantity – especially with me opting for the bottled water on the table. Now comes the tough part – exercising without the added incentive of a massive brunch afterwards!
