Packing is where the excitement really begins when I’m off on holiday. I’ll make lists and lists but one thing always slips my mind until the last minute. Bags. I’ve been known to arrive in a destination before with only a large hand luggage bag and been incredibly frustrated carrying it around a city.
Today, I’ve teamed up with House of Fraser to create a guide of which style of bag is best for your holiday.
The Beach Break
A roomy beach bag is crucial if you’re like me and can’t leave the hotel without a Kindle, books for when the battery dies, your phone, suncream, a HUGE hat…the list goes on. Tote styles work well for this as they fold up small. Limited on space? Choose a pretty but durable fabric and it can double up as your plane carry on.
The Party Island
It’s all about keeping it compact. A glitzy clutch is beautiful but choose a design with a thin strap that you can easily hide inside so you can keep both arms free for dancing!
The City Break
If exploring is your thing, you’ll want a small to medium handbag that fits in all your essentials securely – leave the heavy guidebook at home though yeah? Make sure it closes securely, preferably with a zip, and choose a colour that will coordinate with many outfits to streamline your packing.
The Backpacker
Chances are that you’ll be carrying around a heavy rucksack for much of the time so you’ll want to ensure that your day bag can be easily accessed without being difficult to carry both simultaneously. I would choose a brightly coloured backpack (again, one with a hidden zip is ideal) that can be carried on your front if needed.
