It’s one of those beautifully lazy Sundays. The tiredness from a busy few weeks has gradually seeped away, thanks to a well-deserved lie in, a day of films and creating a new Spotify playlist to cheer me up on those dark, cold morning commutes. For a travel blog, things get quite personal around here but somehow I haven’t talked about my travel plans for the year ahead on here at all. So, settle down for a well overdue update…
It’s just four weeks until I jet off on another adventure and this one had me jumping around with excitement when it was booked. I’m finally going to America! Some of my best friends and I are flying into LAX where we’ll spend five days in California before driving to Vegas for two nights – I can barely believe it’s happening even now!
After this, I’ll be staying in the UK on a mission to save as much money as possible. My dream for 2016 is to make it to Australia, travelling the East Coast and visiting friends along the way, and I’ve talked about it so much that not going would be way too embarrassing. It’s a scary thought – I was never the kind of person who wanted to spend months halfway across the world – but there’s so much out there in the world to experience and I feel like the time is now.
One of the downsides of this saving is that I’m living out the next few months of winter in worn jumpers and battered shoes: splashing out seems like a waste when I’m hoping not to need them next year! So an unexpected treat this week came in the form of this lovely striped jumper, kindly sent to me from the team at New Look. I’m a big fan of their knitwear range, particularly because they’re priced well in comparison to many high street stores, and this jumper is beautifully cosy to snuggle up in.
So stay tuned – our travel plans for America include experiencing the casinos (and breakfast buffets) of Vegas, heading to Universal Studios, hiking to the Hollywood sign and pretending to be glamorous in LA. There’s so much still to do on my travel bucket list and I’m not giving up anytime soon! Plus, if anybody has any advice on travelling Australia (especially regarding the Working Holiday Visa), I’d love to chat – tweet me @wanderwithlaura!
