Exploring Hvar

Our first couple of mornings sailing through the Adriatic were pretty stormy so leaving my cabin to beaming sunshine and a view of paradise was the most amazing surprise.
clear sea HvarThe sea around Croatia is the most beautiful colour and so unbelievably clear that I donned my bikini as soon as our boat stopped just off the coast of Hvar and jumped straight into the water. We would usually have a couple of hours swim stop each morning before docking on whichever island we would be visiting but here, we were lucky enough to have the whole day to relax in the water. It was a lazy perfect mix of swimming and sunbathing with a quick break for lunch. This particular afternoon was so hot that the crew were passing out Somersby apple cider to us through the portholes – total bliss. After drying off in the sun, we caught a water taxi across to the town. We all split off for a bit of exploring Hvar so after cooling off with a much needed beverage, we decided to climb up to the fortress. The side streets themselves were incredibly beautiful and I could have easily spent another day wandering through the town but we were on a mission.Helped along by giant bottles of water and a shaded path, we made it to the top and looked down on the most incredible views of the port.It was hands down one of the most stunning places that we visited on our week in Croatia.exploring hvarWe descended back to the town for gorgeous dinner with about half of our boat group. As well as seafood, there is a lot of Italian style food around in Croatia and many of our group opted for some particularly yummy pizzas. They were so big that I was unable to finish mine so I boxed it up ready for a late-night snack. We headed to the supermarket for some cheap drinks and settled down on the dock to watch the sun go down.It was a perfect evening and we went on to hit up Carpe Diem, Hvar’s most famous club. You hop on a water taxi to the island which blasts deep house to a dancefloor, pool and several lounge areas – you can even take a dip in the sea! I’d love to go in the daytime for a beach party before carrying on late into the night.

And yes, I did eat the rest of my pizza at 4am…
